Implant Selection
For women who would like to increase the size of their breasts, Dr. Poulter offers both saline (saltwater) filled and silicone gel filled breast implants. Each implant type has its own unique characteristics, and implant selection is largely a matter of individual preference that will be discussed in detail during the consultation.
Implant Placement
The most appropriate placement of the implant is another decision that you and Dr. Poulter will make together. The type of implant selected, as well as your individual anatomy, will influence the implant placement. Generally, implants are placed beneath the chest muscle (submuscular placement)for a more natural appearance. For many patients, Dr. Poulter further refines the procedure using the dual plane placement of implants to correct drooping or underdeveloped lower pole of the breast. In cases of significant sagging (ptosis), Dr. Poulter may recommend a breast lift in combination with your augmentation.
Incision Type
Dr. Poulter prefers the inferior mammary fold incision for optimal implant placement and surgical precision. The most common incision type, this incision is made in the fold beneath the breast where it is easily concealed.
